Day 2

Today I was scheduled to run 6 miles. I was out the door by 6:40am. It was *perfect* running weather. 59-60 degrees and sunny. I would have been a bit chilly in a tank top, so I ran in a t-shirt and shorts. Although t-shirts tend to be a bit more bulky to run in, I always feel so much more "free" in them. We did the west Oakwood-Kettering loop. Lots of hills, but very peaceful. There were lots of runners out this morning. I was wondering if they too had just started marathon training? A lot of days, I don't pass a single soul. Although, I tend to run more "public" routes because of Cooper. He completely freaks out every time he sees another dog. I took the downhills easy - my shins are still a bit sore. I had twinges of knee pain too, but nothing horrible. My biggest fear is injury. I had one minor injury (peroneal tendonitis) during my half-marathon training. Good shoes has (hopefully) fixed that. I'm not quite sure how my shin splints came about? I made a mental note to make sure to ice them today. Overall, I felt pretty good. I had enough left in my legs to do some sprint work at the end. And with that, Day #2 was in the books!

Oh yeah - my mantra: Mind~Body~ Soul~ 26.2

That pretty much sums it up. This marathon/training takes a strong mind, strong body, and total soul committment.

Day 1

Well, I hope this isn't how this whole "blogging" thing is gonna go..... Today is officially day #2 of training, but I'm just now getting around to starting the blog. So I'm busy.... I work part time and have 2 kids. In any case, I truly hope I can keep up in here!
So back to Day1: Yesterday the alarm went off at 6:00 am. I was scheduled to run 4 "easy"miles, but this would be the first time I ran before work. Usually I run on mornings that I don't work. This represents a big change in my workout routine! I was so worried about running and getting to work, I virtually jumped out of bed, got ready, and hit the road. It was a nice day for a run - 60 some degrees and sunny. I did the outer loop of Shroyer - Stroop - Far Hills. Cooper did pretty well. Did I mention I run with my dog.....most days? I felt pretty good the whole time. I got home in plenty of time to shower and get ready for work. Phew....day #1 was in the books.
